Welcome to Year 2 - Hello everybody! A very warm welcome to Year 2, the best class in school!
Mrs Murphy is the main class teacher. I teach in Year 2 four days a week.
Mrs Mitchell teaches the class on Thursdays and loves teaching Science, History and Geography.
Mrs Hurst shares her RE and Music expertise with the class during the week too.
Mrs Monaghan is our hard-working, helpful and caring Teaching Assistant everyday!
In Year 2 we have lunch at 11.30-12.30. A playtime in the morning, during which we enjoy school fruit and an afternoon break too, during which the children can munch on some fruit from home. We try and be flexible with our playtimes and fit them in when it's best for our learning and well-being.
We love P.E. in Year 2. Mr Willock is our P.E. specialist teacher who will do PE with Year 2 on Thursdays. In the Autumn term we'll be doing some extra Cricket lessons too with a cricket coach. Remember to wear your P.E. kits to school on P.E. days.
This year, for the first time, we're introducing M.F.L. into Key Stage 1 and are looking forward to Miss Hynes teaching us some French/Spanish.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are now using Little Wandle (Letters and Sounds Revised) as our Systematic, Synthetic Phonics Programme (S.S.P.)
The children will be doing daily phonics in class and enjoying Reading Practice sessions which staff in school, using books linked to the sounds we've been learning in class. Children will continue to bring home Book Banded Reading for Pleasure Books to enjoy at home and class library books.
Our Class Dojo Page provides regular updates, information and is a great way of sharing our journey and getting involved in our learning. We hope you enjoy the ride this year!
